Barron Trump learned about the shooting with Trump during a tennis lesson

It was a tennis lesson that Barron Trump will not soon forget. In a recent interview with Fox News“Mark Levin, Donald Trump announced that his youngest son learned in court that his father had been shot.

“He's a good tennis player. And someone ran (and said), 'Barron! Barron! Your father was shot!'” the former president said. Trump said Barron reacted immediately: “He loves his father. He's a good boy, a good student. And he ran: 'Mommy! What's going on? What's going on?'”

According to Trump, his wife Melania was watching coverage of the July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and saw the attempt on his life live. “She saw it live. Can you imagine? And then I stood up and told the people I was OK. Fighting. Fighting. Fighting. But it was a big blow,” Trump said.

In an earlier interview with Fox News, Trump had spoken about Melania's reaction to the assassination attempt: “When I was able to talk to people, I asked her, 'So, what did you feel?' and she said she couldn't even talk about it, which was OK, because that means she likes me,” he said. Trump was on Fox News to promote his new book. Save Americawhich will be released on September 3rd.

Elsewhere in the interview, Trump said his son Donald Trump Jr., who is “great with guns,” told him after being taken to safety following the shooting: “I can't believe it. From this distance … I can't believe it.”

“It should be a safe bet from that distance,” Trump continued, alluding to the fact that shooter Matthew Crooks would have had no problem hitting him directly. “Like sinking a foot-long putt.” Trump had been showing a table with statistics on border crossings when he was shot. “If I had just turned around a little less or a little more,” he said. “If I had turned around more or less, it would still have been the end.”

So how did he end up with only a minor injury and only one bullet grazing his ear? “It's God. I know people who have become believers because of it.”

This week, all eyes will be on where Barron might be when he's not on the court. The 18-year-old graduated from the Oxbridge Academy in Florida last month and is set to start college in the fall. Trump said The New York Post that Barron would attend college in New York and start “soon.”

So far, Barron hasn't been spotted on any of the New York City college campuses that have begun freshman orientation in recent weeks. However, it's worth noting that the first day of classes for the fall semester at New York University is Tuesday, Sept. 3, in case anyone sees a 6-foot-tall freshman walking around Manhattan's Washington Square Park.

Barron's possible enrollment at NYU is also being watched, given a cryptic, amusingly talkative post about New York that Barron's mother, Melania, wrote on X last week.

“New York City captured my heart the moment I arrived 28 years ago today,” the former First Lady wrote beneath a not-so-captivating aerial photo of Midtown Manhattan. “This electrifying city is not just my home; it is a colorful canvas where dreams come to life. New York's iconic skyline and vibrant culture inspire me every day.”
