Fantasy Football Targets: Kyle Pitts, Chris Godwin, George Kittle

When preparing for your fantasy football drafts, it's important to know which players to target and which to avoid. The amount of information available can be overwhelming. A good way to condense the data and determine which players to draft and which to leave to your leaguemates is to use our expert consensus fantasy football rankings compared to average fantasy football draft position (ADP). This will help you identify players the experts are targeting at ADP and others they aren't drafting until much later than average. Let's take a look at some of Derek Brown's favorite mid-round fantasy football draft picks to target.

Advice on the 2024 Fantasy Football Draft

Kyle Pitts (TE – ATL): Pitts was once again outclassed by Arthur Smith last year, as he played at less than 100% for most of the season. Pitts finished the season as the TE16 in fantasy points per game and the TE15 in expected fantasy points per game. Much of that can be attributed to his minimal touchdown production (just three, 18th among TEs) and a nonexistent role in the red zone (34th in red zone targets). While Pitts lagged in YPRR and FD/RR (18th in both), he still shined in one of the metrics I look at to gauge talent and potential at the tight end position, and that's YPRR vs. man coverage. Last year, Pitts ranked seventh in that metric, just behind Travis Kelce. With a revamped offensive system, a clean bill of health and improved quarterback play, Pitts will hit the ground running this season.

George Kittle (TE – SF): Kittle proved last year that the tank isn't empty. He was the TE6 in fantasy points per game and finished the season with the third-most receptions and receiving yards of his career while ranking just 10th in raw target volume (90). Kittle's use of high leverage was fine, though, as he ranked first in deep targets and 10th among tight ends in red zone targets. Among 51 qualified tight ends, he ranked first in YPRR (2.42) and seventh in FD/RR (0.10). Kittle can easily put together another top-6 fantasy tight end season in 2024, and the floor and ceiling will move up if Deebo Samuel is moved before Week 1.

Chris Godwin (WR, TB): Last year, Chris Godwin finished the season as the WR34 in fantasy points per game, which was his lowest fantasy season finish since 2018. His season was a disappointment, but there is hope he can bounce back in 2024, especially if he maintains the pace he finished with last year. From Weeks 1-13, Godwin was the WR45 in fantasy points per game and owned a 20.4% target share with 50.5 receiving yards per game, 1.62 yards per route run, and 0.088 first downs per route run (per Fantasy Points Data). He took off after Week 13 and finished the season as the WR16 in fantasy points per game with a 28.7% target share, 83.6 receiving yards per game, 2.79 yards per route run, and .133 first downs per route run. This coincided with an increase in his slot rate from 36.1% to 44%. The Bucs have talked about Godwin moving from the perimeter back to his usual slot role in 2024, which would be great for his production and his 2024 outlook. Godwin appears to be an incredible value in the draft.
