The countdown is on and Apple will announce new iPhone 16 models in exactly five days as part of its “It's Glowtime” keynote. At least the new Pro models are said to have a new camera button below the power switch. Now it is said that Apple has a way to use the capacitive recording button for its own silicone cases without the need for a separate cutout in the case.

iPhone 16: Apple original cases should not require a separate cutout for the new camera flavor

Mass production of the new iPhone 16 models has long since begun. Third-party suppliers have already started producing cases for the new models in order to be able to offer cases directly when the corresponding new iPhone 16 (Pro) goes on sale. The third-party cases that have appeared in recent weeks have a recess below the on/off switch that is intended for the new camera button.

The new capacitive recording button is supposed to support multiple gestures and respond to pressure. In a new post on X, leaker DuanRui shares a picture of silicone cases from third-party suppliers. Here, too, a corresponding new cutout can be seen.

Further, DuanRui reveals that the official Apple case for the iPhone 16 series will not have this notch, and Apple will instead opt for an integrated design that will not affect the normal use of this capacitive touch.
