LSU running back John Emery is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL, The Advocate reported Wednesday.

According to the report, Emery sustained the injury during practice on Tuesday, two days after he rushed 10 times for 61 yards in the Tigers' 27-20 loss to Southern California. The game marked Emery's return after he tore an ACL in his right knee in LSU's 52-35 win over Florida last season on Nov. 11.

The No. 18 Tigers (0-1) will look to rebound on Saturday when they play their first home game against FCS opponent Nicholls in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Emery has rushed for 1,123 yards and 14 touchdowns since joining LSU in 2019. He sat out the 2021 season for academic reasons.

Instead of Emery, Josh Williams and Kaleb Jackson will likely have more work to do. Williams managed nine runs for 33 yards against the Trojans and Jackson managed five runs for 14 yards.
