Shortlist for the Ballon d'Or 2024: Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Lauren James among the nominees

The shortlists for the 2024 Ballon d'Or have been announced. Nominees for the men's award include Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham.

In addition to Palmer, Foden and Bellingham, the 30-man shortlist also includes English teammates Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice.

Foden, who was named PFA Player of the Year last month, is one of four Man City nominees alongside Erling Haaland, Ruben Dias and Rodri.

William Saliba and Martin Odegaard of Arsenal FC are also nominated for the award, bringing the total number of representatives from the Premier League to nine.

The shortlist for the Women's Ballon d'Or is dominated by reigning Champions League winners FC Barcelona, ​​with no fewer than six nominees, including 2023 winner Aitana Bonmati.

The English trio Lucy Bronze, Lauren James, Lucy Bronze and Lauren Hemp are three of seven players from the Women's Super League.

The winners will be announced on October 28 in Paris.

Vinicius Jr. is the favorite for the award after winning La Liga and the Champions League with Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old scored 24 goals and provided 11 assists in 39 games in all competitions and was also named Champions League Player of the Season.

Bellingham, on the other hand, had a very successful debut season in the Madrid shirt, scoring 23 goals and providing 13 assists in 43 appearances in midfield.

The 21-year-old won the Spanish championship and the Champions League with his club and led his national team England to the European Championship final in Germany.

The current winner of the Ballon d'Or is Lionel Messi of Inter Miami.
