Best man dies after groom intentionally hits him with SUV after wedding, police say

FLINT, Michigan (WNEM/Gray News) – A Michigan couple has been arrested after police say the groom intentionally hit and killed his best man with an SUV after the wedding.

Flint police said officers were called to a pedestrian injury crash around 8 p.m. Friday. When police arrived, they found 29-year-old Terry Lewis Taylor Jr. with serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died, WNEM reported.

Police said further investigation revealed that Taylor had attended a wedding that same day as a best man. After the wedding, he was involved in an argument that allegedly resulted in him being intentionally struck by a speeding SUV.

Police said the groom, 22-year-old James Shirah, was driving the SUV. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail.

Shirah's bride, 21-year-old Savahna Collier, was charged with accessory after the fact to a crime. Her bail was set at $4,000.
