Pankaj Tripathi, an acclaimed Indian actor, celebrates his 48th birthday. Birthday today. He is known for his remarkable versatility and convincing performances in films and web series. With iconic roles in films such as Gangs of WasseypurStree, Mimi and the serial Mirzapur, he has captivated audiences with his ability to portray a wide range of characters. His journey from humble origins to becoming a prominent figure in Bollywood is a testament to his dedication and talent.
Interestingly, he celebrates his birthday on two different days: 5 September and September 28. This unique situation dates back to an incident in his childhood during his schooling. In an interview with News 18, the 'OMG 2' actor recalled that his brother could not remember the exact date and a teacher advised him to take September 5 as the date as it coincides with Teachers' Day. The teacher remarked, “Achha din hain. Bada Aadmi Banega” (This is a good day. He will become a famous man). Though his actual date of birth is September 28, Pankaj has taken both the dates as his birthday.
Pankaj Tripathi was born into a humble family in the village of Belsand in Bihar. His father worked as a farmer and a Hindu priest, which meant his financial resources were limited. Despite these challenges, Pankaj's passion for acting began at an early age; he took part in local nataks (plays) during festivals.
After graduating from the National School of Drama in 2004, Pankaj moved to Mumbai to pursue an acting career. He made his film debut with a supporting role in Run (2004), but it was his performance in Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) that catapulted him to fame. This film, directed by Anurag Kashyap, showcased his talent and opened doors to numerous opportunities in the industry. After this breakthrough, Pankaj starred in several successful films including Fukrey, Mimi and Bareilly Ki Barfi, all of which showcased his ability to portray diverse characters.
Recently, Pankaj Tripathi impressed the audience with his performance in the blockbuster Stree 2 alongside Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. His upcoming projects include Anurag Basu's Metro…In Dino, in which he will be seen in lead roles alongside Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The film is slated to release on November 29 this year.
