San Francisco reiterates call for investigation of Pat Finucane

Sinn Féin MP Linda Dillon has renewed her call for a public inquiry into the murder of human rights lawyer Pat Finucane.

She made this renewed call after US Congressman Richie Neal wrote a letter to the British Prime Minister expressing his support for the repeal of the shameful Legacy Act and the Finucane family's continued quest for truth and justice.

Dillon, San Francisco's spokesperson for victims and survivors, said: “I want to echo the words of Congressman Richie Neal, who has again called for an independent public investigation into the murder of Pat Finucane.

“Geraldine Finucane and her family have fought with dignity and determination for over 35 years to find out the full truth about what happened to Pat; a husband, a father, a human rights lawyer.

“The British Government must put years of manipulation and abuse of victims behind it. It is time it finally gave the families, including Pat Finucane's, the chance to know the truth and justice.

“There must be no further delays, blockages or interruptions.

“Now is the time to launch a public inquiry and bring full truth and justice to Geraldine Finucane and her children.”
