Warren police investigate image of body in coffin at local park – Macomb Daily

Authorities in Warren say they are investigating after a photo surfaced online this week showing what they say is a body lying in a coffin in a local park.

The image shows a body in an open casket with a floral arrangement at one end and a person sitting at a picnic table nearby. It was probably taken in Butcher Park on Martin Road west of Mound Road.

Clarissa Cayton, the city's communications director, said Warren officials were aware of the photo.

Police did not respond to an email request from the Macomb Daily on Tuesday, but addressed the issue in a separate post on the department's Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon.

“The Warren Police Department is aware of an incident circulating on social media that appears to show an open casket on display in Butcher Park yesterday morning,” officials wrote in the post. “Any information could help us gather more details and gain a clearer understanding of the circumstances under which this image was taken.”
