Ten new episodes: Season five confirmed: “Only Murders in the Building” continues

“Only Murders in the Building” is also getting a fifth season. This was announced on Instagram by the main actors of the acclaimed TV shows, Steve Martin (79), Martin Short (74) and Selena Gomez (32). According to US media reports, the upcoming season of the murder mystery series from the US streaming provider Hulu will consist of ten episodes – like the previous seasons.

The series has already received 49 Emmy nominations for the first three seasons. The third season of “Only Murders in the Building” alone was nominated 21 times for the prestigious TV award. In Germany, the program can be seen on Disney+. The fourth season of the show began there on August 27th.

What season four is about

Viewers have known about the new murder case in the fourth season of “Only Murders in the Building” since the final moments of the previous episode: Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch, 64), Charles' (Martin) stunt double and girlfriend, is murdered. Since she was dressed similarly to Charles, the suspicion quickly arises that he was actually the actual murder victim.

At the same time, a major film studio wants to bring the “Only Murders” podcast to the big screen. Mabel (Gomez), Oliver (Short) and Charles visit Hollywood and meet the three star actors Eva Longoria (49), Eugene Levy (77) and Zach Galifianakis (54), who are to play them in the planned film project. These acting greats then accompany Oliver, Charles and Mabel back to New York. They want to study the trio's peculiarities in order to portray them credibly on screen. But during this role study, the Hollywood stars are also drawn more and more into the murder investigation.

More prominent actors than ever before

In previous seasons, well-known actors such as Oscar winner Meryl Streep (75) or Paul Rudd (55), known from various Marvel films, have already appeared in “Only Murders in the Building”. In the fourth season, however, there are significantly more guest stars and famous faces joining the party.

In addition to returning actress Streep, who once again plays the character Loretta Durkin, the cast this time includes the aforementioned Longoria (“Desperate Housewives”), Levy (“Schitt's Creek”) and Galifianakis (“Hangover”). Also new are Melissa McCarthy (54) and Kumail Nanjiani (“The Big Sick”, 46).
