Agra: The Body a 40-year-old woman lawyerwho went “miss” on September 3, was found in the Goraha Canal in Kasganj on Wednesday evening. The “partially clothed body” – in a decomposed state – bore deep wounds and “her face was disfigured,” her husband said.
SP (Kasganj) Aparna Rahat Kausik said on Thursday, “The body has been sent for post-mortem and we are conducting an investigation from all possible angles.” SHO of Kasganj, Lokesh Bhati, added, “Three police teams were formed to search for her and the body was found in the canal after a 30-hour search. We are waiting for the post-mortem report. After that, we can get an idea about the exact nature of injuries on the body and the cause of death. The motive is yet to be ascertained.”
Her husband, a journalist, confirmed her identity and claimed that she was “missing since September 3” and had filed a missing person report in Kasganj Kotwali. He added, “I dropped her at the court gate on September 3 at around 2 pm. Hours later, when I called her, her mobile was switched off. I continued calling her. Later, I informed the police. It is a case of abduction and brutal murder. Her face was smashed and her body bore injury marks. She was barely wearing any clothes. Her mobile phone and identity cards were also missing.”
Members of the Kasganj Bar Association expressed concern over the incident and said they would lodge a complaint with the police soon. Chetan Chauhan, secretary of the Kasganj Bar Association, said, “We have decided that the lawyers will not work until the details of the case are disclosed.”
