Volleyball players from Dresdner SC let themselves be “shot down”

Dresden. Before the DSC volleyball players start the new Bundesliga season in three weeks with the home game against Aachen, the Margon Arena was transformed into a “photo shoot location” this Thursday. After all the players had finally arrived, the young ladies stood in front of the camera of Amelie Jehmlich, who has been producing the popular DSC annual calendar together with Beatrice Dömeland for years. Under the motto “Profile & Volleyball Performance”, she is putting the girls in the spotlight in volleyball-specific actions for the 27th edition.

While newcomers such as Latvian national player Marta Levinska and American Emma Clothier were nominated for the DSC cult object for the first time, it was almost routine for German national player Sarah Straube. “This is the fifth calendar shoot for me,” reveals the 22-year-old with a laugh. Only a week ago, the setter returned with the German selection from the European Championship qualification and was given a week off by her home trainer Alexander Waibl, who was also her boss as national coach in the summer. “I needed that too, to not see a ball for a while and to do normal things and switch off a bit.” “But now I'm looking forward to working with our new team again,” says Straube.

Sarah Straube happy about new wealth of experience

She says of her summer with the national team: “It was perfect for me. The training and the games at a high international level definitely helped me progress. “The week at the Nations League in Hong Kong against the top teams in the world and in front of a crowd that I only know from the cup final in Germany was particularly instructive for me,” says the Dresden co-captain, who has also learned something for the new season: “I just have to be more relaxed.” We really had a lot of fun and I think I shouldn't be too tense.” In front of the camera, it certainly worked out brilliantly.

As always, the players were perfectly styled by the Knievel hairdressing salon and the Kerstin Fiedler wellness salon. The calendar will be presented for the first time at the European Cup home game on November 13th.
