Unsolved murder still keeps police busy

Cold Case: In 2002, Miljan Grujicic was shot in Offenbach. New clues lead to the reopening of the investigation.

Over twenty years ago, on November 23, 2002, the then 33-year-old Miljan Grujicic was shot in the backyard of his nightclub “Madonna” in Offenbach. The Frankfurt am Main Public Prosecutor's Office and the South East Hesse Police Headquarters are still looking for witnesses and clues to the perpetrator(s).

The original investigations could not identify a perpetrator, although there was initially a suspect. However, the suspicion turned out to be unfounded. Therefore, the case was closed in 2003. In the summer of 2022, however, the police came across new clues. The authorities are resuming the investigation.

According to current information, it could be a long-planned contract killing. There are two possible motives: a dispute over drug deals or a connection to a shooting in Montenegro in 1990 in which Grujicic is said to have been involved.

The murder weapon, a Yugoslavian Crvena Zastava (model number 67 or 70), remains missing to this day. As part of the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY … Ungelöst”, which was broadcast on February 14, 2024, public prosecutor Dr. Bonavita and Chief Inspector Uli Stenzel explained details of the investigation.

After the broadcast, around twenty tips were received by the ZDF studio in Munich and the South East Hesse Police Headquarters. While these are still being evaluated, the police are hoping for further tips from the public to solve the murder case. The Frankfurt am Main Public Prosecutor's Office has offered a reward of 10,000 euros for useful information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrator. Specific tips are accepted at the following link.
