Okaloosa County SO arrests Tallahassee man for allegedly soliciting sexual contact with minor

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) – The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Tallahassee man with soliciting a minor for sex on the Internet.

David Christopher Roberts, 35, was arrested on Tuesday.

OCSO investigators say they set up and conducted an online chat operation in April 2023, posing as a 13-year-old girl, to locate and identify individuals soliciting sex with minors.

According to OCSO, the crimes occurred in Shalimar, Florida, in Okaloosa County.

Authorities said Roberts contacted the undercover agent through the dating app MeetMe and the conversation quickly turned to text messages and suggestions for sexual activity. Roberts also sent explicit photos.

After obtaining search warrants for the account records, investigators arrested Roberts and charged him with using a computer to entice or lure a child, distributing obscene material to a minor, and using a two-way communication device to commit a crime.

He was taken to the Okaloosa County Jail.
