Stabbing in Rookery Lane Bromley College: Man arrested

The incident occurred yesterday (September 5) shortly before 12.30pm on the Rookery Lane campus.

Officers were called to the scene and a knife was found shortly afterwards.

A Bromley College spokesman confirmed that staff had quickly resolved the situation.

The college is currently working closely with the police to ensure the safety of its staff and students.

The spokesperson added: “We understand this may cause anxiety and concern for parents/carers and students.

“We want to assure you that the safety of our community is our absolute priority.

“We immediately implemented additional security measures and support to ensure our campus continues to provide the highest level of safety for employees and students.”

No injuries were reported following the incident.

A man was arrested on site on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.

Police investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “On Thursday 5 September, police were called to Rookery Lane, Bromley at 12.26pm following reports of a fight.

“Officers were at the scene and confiscated a knife.

“A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.

“There were no reports of injuries.

“Investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.”

Bromley College's full statement reads: “Yesterday (5 September) there was an altercation on our Bromley campus involving three students.

“The situation was defused very quickly by staff led by our Campus Support Team and police arrived immediately. No one was injured.

“This is now a police matter and we are working closely with them to ensure the continued safety of all our staff and students.

“We understand that this may cause anxiety and concern for parents/carers and students.

“We want to assure you that the safety of our community is our absolute priority.

“We immediately implemented additional security measures and support to ensure our campus continues to provide the highest level of safety for employees and students.
