Leipzig: Man pushes passenger out of tram and kicks him

Leipzig- A brutal attack on a tram passenger at the Leibnizstraße stop in Leipzig took place in July 2023. The perpetrator is still at large – now the police are looking for witnesses.

According to the Leipzig Police Department, a 38-year-old man was traveling on tram line 15 in the direction of Miltitz on July 24, 2023 at 8:50 p.m.

While he was still on the train, he was approached by an unknown suspect – when both wanted to get off at the Leibnizstraße stop, the unknown man kicked the 38-year-old with such force that he fell to the ground and hit his head against the barrier at the stop.

“The attacker struck and then kicked the victim several times while he was lying on the ground. He then took the victim's headphones and fled the scene,” said police spokesman Chris Graupner.

The 38-year-old was injured and had to be taken to hospital for treatment. Despite extensive investigations, the brutal attacker has not yet been arrested.

Following a court order, the authorities are now searching for the suspect using surveillance camera images.

The police are investigating for theft and grievous bodily harm. The man can be described as follows.

• approximately 18 to 25 years old
• approximately 1.80 meters tall
• slim stature
• dark skin color
• dark, curly, full hair
• Smokers
• Clothing: dark jacket with grey sleeves, grey hood of the brand “Puma”, black trousers and shoes
