Man in court after girl shot outside restaurant

A man has denied the attempted murder of a nine-year-old girl and three men who were injured in a shooting outside a restaurant.

The girl was seriously injured when a motorcyclist opened fire as she was dining with her family at the restaurant on Kingsland High Street in Dalston, east London, on May 29.

She was admitted to hospital, where her condition remains stable, but her parents expressed concern that her ability to speak and move may be permanently impaired.

Javon Reily, 32, of Farnborough Road, Farnborough, Hampshire, appeared before the Old Bailey and was remanded in custody.

Mr Riley was arrested on August 9 after a vehicle was stopped on Chelsea Embankment.

Three men sitting outside the restaurant were also shot, but were released from the hospital a few days later.

The girl cannot be identified due to her age, but the adult victims have been identified as Ali Nasser, 42, Kenan Aydogdu, 44, and Mustafa Kiziltam, 37.

It is not alleged that Mr Riley was the shooter and the court heard that an investigation into the shooting was ongoing.

Judge Mark Lucraft KC announced that he would be the trial judge and said the next hearing would be on 19 November.

A three-week trial had been scheduled for July 21, but Judge Lucraft indicated that the hearing could begin later if additional charges were brought.
