Prison sentence for Marathon County man found guilty of fleeing police and several other charges | WSAU News/Talk 550 AM · 99.9 FM

WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Mosinee man will serve prison time after pleading guilty to eight different charges, part of an agreement to resolve more than a dozen open cases.

According to court records, Justin Phillips entered his guilty plea on Thursday in exchange for the dismissal of numerous other cases and charges. A judge then sentenced him to three years in prison plus three additional years of extended probation with several conditions.

The most recent case against Phillips involved a chase through Mosinee to Wausau. The incident began when a trooper attempted to pull Phillips over for failing to yield, but he sped away and headed north on US 51/Interstate 39. Troopers were able to end the chase near the Stewart Avenue exit using spike barriers and a PIT maneuver.

Nine charges arose from that incident. Phillips' agreement drops seven counts, requiring him to plead “no contest” to charges of fleeing or eluding a police officer and taking a vehicle without the owner's consent. He will also pay thousands in restitution and fines for other counts, including theft of personal property and shoplifting.

The deal will resolve a total of 19 cases and civil forfeiture proceedings or fines against him.
