Johnny Fisher has cancelled the fight with Ukrainian Rudenko

Famous British heavyweight Johnny Fisher (12-0, 11 KOs) has canceled his fight against Andrii Rudenko (36-7, 22 KOs). The day before, 25-year-old Fisher suffered a serious hand injury and withdrew from the fight.

The fight between the British and the Ukrainian former WBC International Silver (2016-2017) champion was scheduled for September 28 at the Copper Box Arena in London.

“I am absolutely devastated to tell you that I tore my bicep this week. It's been a very long and tough training camp and this time it just wasn't meant to be. However, when I noticed something was wrong with my arm, I immediately had it scanned and with the right rehabilitation I will be back up and running soon,” Fisher said in the video.

Fisher vs. Rudenko is set to be the main event of Matchroom Boxing night on DAZN. The new main event of the evening is the WBO lightweight title fight between Riann Dixon and Terry Harper.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Rudenko lost the 2019 EBU European Championship title fight against the then 26-year-old Agit Kabayel.

In July 2017, Rudenko lost to Russian Alexander Povetkin in Moscow. The fight for the vacant belts of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and the World Boxing Association (WBA) in the Central Concert Hall of Russia ended for our compatriot with a unanimous decision of the judges 109:120, 108:12.

Before the fight, Rudenko showed the Russians, on whose Crimean peninsula he is located, a patriotic T-shirt.
