Country for job money laundering case: A Delhi court on Saturday deferred the summons of former railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tejashwi Yadav and other accused in the country on labour-related money laundering charges. The case has been listed for appearance on September 13.

On August 6, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a supplementary chargesheet against Lalu, Tejashwi and nine others. The ED submitted that the wife of the accused Lallan Chaudhary confirmed the death and also submitted the post-mortem report. He died in July 2024. However, the death certificate was not submitted as it was not yet issued by the panchayat. The ED said that it will submit the death certificate once it is issued. In total, 3 accused have died.

Earlier, a Delhi court on August 24 deferred its decision on whether to take cognizance of a supplementary chargesheet filed by the ED against Lalu Prasad, Tejashwi Yadav and nine others in the alleged land-for-job scam case.

Special Judge Vishal Gogne had postponed the decision on the prosecution's appeal (the equivalent of the prosecution's chargesheet) until September 7, as some clarifications were still required.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed its cases based on an FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Meanwhile, the court directed the federal agency to submit the death certificate of co-accused Lallan Chaudhary.

“A perusal of the supplementary complaint shows that the proposed additional accused No. 10 (Lallan Chaudhary) is deceased. However, no death certificate has been submitted and only a report from the police authorities regarding the alleged death of Lallan Chaudhary,” the court said.

“Since the matter is at the stage of summoning other accused, the ED is directed to submit the death certificate of accused No. 10 (Lallan Chaudhary) by the next date,” it added.
