NSCDC arrests 7 ‘miscreants’ for disturbing the peace in Kwara

Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested seven miscreants in Ilorin, the state capital, for alleged unlawful and violent conduct.

The hoodlums were arrested in Sango area of ​​Ilorin after a certain Taiwo Olusegun reported that she was attacked by hoodlums in the area and robbed of her bag, phones and other valuables.

The spokesperson of the NSCDC in the state, Ayoola Michael, confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement on Saturday.

Michael added: “On Thursday, September 5, 2024, one Olusegun Taiwo (F) of Sango area of ​​Ilorin reported a case of criminal conspiracy and theft at the Station Office of the NSCDC, Kwara State Command. She stated that while on her way to her office on a motorcycle, she was attacked by a group of youths suspected to be hoodlums who forcefully took away her bag, phones and other valuables.

“Following receipt of the report, operatives of the NSCDC Kwara State Command on the same day arrested seven suspected miscreants guilty of unlawful and violent acts and mischief during a protest by tricycle and motorcycle riders in Ilorin.

“After thorough investigation, it was discovered that the suspects belong to a group of hoodlums responsible for terror and public unrest in Ilorin, particularly in the Sango area.

“The protests were overrun by hoodlums who took advantage of the situation and stole personal items such as bags, phones and other valuables, leading to increased unrest in the Ilorin metropolis.”
