According to reports, Nic Anderson of the Sooners is out for the game against Houston

The Oklahoma Sooners will likely be without star wide receiver Nic Anderson for the second game of the 2024 season. According to a report from Matt Zenitz of 247Sports and CBS Sports, Anderson will miss tonight's game against the Houston Cougars.

In 2023, Anderson caught 38 passes for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns and was expected to have a great season for the Sooners in 2024. Brent Venables spoke about Anderson's injury situation earlier this week, saying he will be back “sooner rather than later,” but his 2024 debut is still pending.

Brenen Thompson will start on the outside in Anderson's place for the second consecutive week. Last week he had four catches for just 15 yards as Oklahoma only used him in the short passing game. The speedster from Texas has the ability to get behind the defense quickly. It sounds like the Sooners will step up more in the passing game this week, but with a revamped offensive line, who knows how hard they will try to put Jackson Arnold in danger.

JJ Hester takes over for Jalil Farooq, who was out for six to eight weeks due to a broken foot.
