Man charged in fatal carjacking of 90-year-old Navy veteran, also linked to UH robbery

HOUSTON, Texas – We learn more about the man accused of killing a 90-year-old Navy veteran from Houston on August 31.

Additional charges are now pending in a separate case against 21-year-old Kyliel Denzel Arceneaux, who is charged with felony assault, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence in connection with the fatal shooting at Lonestar Senior Living Apartments.

According to court documents, Arceneaux is accused of committing aggravated robbery on the University of Houston campus a few days before the fatal car theft.

On Tuesday, August 27, UHPD responded to reports of a robbery at 4 a.m. in Moody Tower. According to court documents, the victim left his dorm room unsecured and went to the bathroom, but when he returned, he saw two men ransacking his room. Investigators say the victim was held at gunpoint and the suspects took his phone before fleeing the scene.

Arceneaux has since been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. He is currently in jail on $7 million bail in connection with the fatal carjacking.
