Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh): Three people were killed and over 20 others injured in a tragic accident that occurred near Dholavad Ghat in Ratlam district under the jurisdiction of Raoti police station on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred when an overloaded pickup truck went out of control and crashed into a ditch. The accident killed three people, including a 15-year-old, and injured more than 20 others.

The vehicle carrying workers of the Khedi Khurd Panchayat reportedly started sliding backwards on a steep slope due to overloading while travelling and fell into the ditch. The driver fled the scene, leaving the dead and injured to their fate.

Villagers rushed to help the trapped workers and rescue teams soon arrived. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals in Raoti and Ratlam where they are being treated. Senior officials have reached the district hospital and have ensured that medical teams provide necessary care to the injured.

The dead have been identified as 15-year-old Ajay, son of Sukhram Kharadi of Haldupada village, 50-year-old Nani Bai of Julwania village and 50-year-old Lilabai Munia, also of Haldupada. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident and are working to trace the absconding driver.
