The USC football team opened the 2024 college football season with a stunning victory over No. 13 LSU in Week 1.

The Trojans were led by redshirt junior Miller Moss, playing his second career game and replacing former No. 1 pick Caleb Williams, who completed 27 of 36 passes for 378 yards and a touchdown in the 27-20 victory over the SEC opponent. Woody Marks scored the game-winning touchdown with 13 seconds left after a targeting call against LSU.

Following the win, USC jumped nine spots from 23rd to 14th in the weekly US LBM Coaches Poll. The Trojans will host Utah State in their first home game on Saturday. The Aggies defeated Robert Morris 36-14, thanks to quarterback Bryson Barnes passing for 198 yards and throwing three touchdowns. Barnes also had 88 rushing yards and one touchdown.

The Trojans lead the all-time series against the Aggies 6-0. The last time the two teams met was a 45-7 victory by the Trojans on September 10, 2016 at the LA Coliseum. The closest meeting in the series came on September 21, 2013 and was a 17-4 victory for USC.
