Cowboys again scared by secondary injury

As far as the Dallas Cowboys' injury situation goes, they are in good shape ahead of the season opener.

That's not to say there haven't been any problems, though, as they'll be without defensive end Sam Williams for the entire year, and DaRon Bland will be out for the first two months of the season after undergoing foot surgery.

However, the players set to face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday were relatively healthy, so it was concerning to see Caelen Carson, who is filling in for Bland, on the injured list because of his knee.

Fortunately, head coach Mike McCarthy said there was no major cause for concern, adding that the Wake Forest freshman has been fully participating in practice.

Carson was drafted in the fifth round this season and will be slotted in the starting lineup opposite Trevon Diggs. Jourdan Lewis will also get plenty of time, although he will primarily be in slot duties.

This is a big challenge for Carson, as the Browns have Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore in their receiver corps. Carson comes into the game with a lot of confidence and thankfully his injury list entry doesn't seem to be sidelining him.
