Gardai investigate attack on woman in capital

DUBLIN, Ireland – A woman remains treated at Beaumont Hospital after being seriously injured in an attack on Saturday.

The woman, aged around 30, was found in a serious condition in a house in Clonshaugh, Dublin 17, early on Saturday morning.

Gardai in Coolock are investigating all the circumstances of what they describe as a serious assault.

“Just after 00:25 on Saturday, Gardai and emergency services responded to reports of an attack at a residential property in Clonshaugh, Dublin 17,” said a Gardai statement released on Saturday. “A woman in her 30s was found with serious injuries and was taken from the scene to Beaumont Hospital where she remains in a serious condition.”

“A subsequent search this morning resulted in the arrest of a man in his 40s who is currently detained at a Garda station in north Dublin under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984,” the statement said.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the Gardai.
