Family pays tribute to ‘hard-working’ nurse who was found dead with numerous injuries

Barbara Nomakhosi, 35, was discovered when officers were called to an address on Walnut Avenue in Bury at around 10.30pm on Friday evening, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

According to police, she probably died earlier that evening.

Officers identified a suspect following Ms Nomakhosi's death and believe he was killed in a collision with a lorry on the M65 eastbound at around 9pm that same evening, they added.

The man, in his forties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement released through GMP, a spokesman for Ms Nomakhosi's family said she had been “caring” and “hardworking”.

“She was so considerate and always looked after her family and friends,” they added.

“Barbara loved her family and enjoyed working as a caregiver.

“We loved Barbara so much and life would not be the same without her.”

While investigations into the circumstances of her death continue, special officers are assisting the family, police said.

Police said on Saturday that an investigation had been launched into Ms Nomakhosi's murder. No other suspects were being sought in connection with her death and there was no major danger to the public.

Both incidents remain the subject of full investigations, with both GMP and Lancashire officers working on the case.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis, of GMP's Major Incident Team, said: “We are not currently looking for anyone in connection with this tragic incident and I would like to reassure local residents that there is no major threat to the community.”

“We will continue to support Barbara’s family and do everything we can to guide them through this process.”
