Man 'suspected' in Bury woman's death after M65 crash

Greater Manchester officers were called to a property in Walnut Avenue, Bury, at around 10.30pm on Friday (September 6), where a woman was found dead. Officers believe she had died earlier in the day.

She has been identified as 35-year-old Barbara Nomakhosi and her family continues to receive support from specialist officers as investigations into the circumstances of her death continue.

Greater Manchester Police said officers had identified a suspect following her death and believe he may have died in a fatal crash involving a truck and a pedestrian that same night.

Lancashire Police were called at around 9pm on Friday after a pedestrian was involved in a collision with a lorry and several other vehicles on the eastbound carriageway between Junction 5 (Guide) and Junction 6 (Blackburn).

A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for Barbara's family said: “Barbara was a caring and hardworking person. She was so considerate and always looked after her family and friends.”

“Barbara loved her family and enjoyed working as a caregiver. We loved Barbara so much and life would not be the same without her.”

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davies, of GMP's Major Incident Team, said: “This is a complex investigation which is very much ongoing and we remain in contact with colleagues in Lancashire who are progressing their own enquiries into the circumstances of the fatal collision.

“We are not currently seeking anyone in connection with this tragic incident and I want to reassure residents that there is no major threat to the community. We will continue to support Barbara's family and do everything we can to guide them through this process.”
