Uttar Pradesh: Minor Dalit girl gang-raped and pelted with bricks in Lucknow, 1 person arrested – Lucknow News

A 14-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by two men in Lucknow on Sunday. The two also allegedly hit her on the head with a brick, police said.

The incident took place on Sunday, September 8, in Lucknow's Bakshi Ka Talab area when the girl was on her way to a food stall.

After the incident, the girl came home and informed her family about it. She was immediately taken to a hospital and the local police were also informed about the incident.

After coming to know about the incident, the police filed a complaint against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and the SC/ST Act and initiated an investigation.

One of the accused was arrested shortly after the complaint was filed. The other accused is still at large and the police have deployed several teams to trace his whereabouts.

Commenting on the incident, Lucknow North Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhijit R Shankar said, “Based on the girl's complaint, a case has been filed at Bakshi Ka Talab police station under relevant sections of the BNS, POSCO and SC/ST Act. One of the accused has been arrested. Some people have also been detained for questioning in the case.”
