Swindon Town injury report after a tough afternoon at Barrow

Town were held to a draw in the closing stages as they were without a recognised goalkeeper for much of the match, with three players forced off through injury and two substitutes coming on and off for the second time in the club's history.

Ollie Clarke was taken off after 25 minutes and Kennedy confirmed that he had asked to be substituted because he had felt tightness in his calf.

He said: “I hope he [Clarke] made an intelligent decision, he just wasn't well, I don't know if it was a cramp or pain.

“I've had thousands of calf injuries, so I said, 'What do you want to do?' and he said, 'I want to get out,' and I thought, 'Thank God, because I'll be fine.'”

Grant Hall was the second player to miss the first half, coming off after 38 minutes with a thigh injury, the severity of which Kennedy was unsure of.

Paul Glatzel came on as a substitute in the 65th minute, but was involved in a collision during a header attempt in the 79th minute and was substituted as part of the concussion protocol.

Kennedy said: “Big praise to Jackson [Bradley]our physiotherapist, for the decision.

“Paul wanted to stay and of course we wanted him to stay, but it was Jackson's decision that according to the concussion protocol it was the right thing to substitute him.

“The player's health comes first. God forbid he collapses and ends up in intensive care and we say, 'The coach overruled the physiotherapist or the physiotherapist tried to put the result above the player's health.'”

Tunmise Sobowale replaced Clarke in the first half, but was replaced by George Cox at half-time in a tactical change rather than an injury.

Kennedy said: “He has handled it absolutely well. He is a top lad, a top professional and all of our players always put the team before themselves.”

“I got exactly what I expected from him. Do I think he's happy? No, of course he's not. Do I think he understands? Yes, he's a smart guy. Do I think he's going to come in on Monday and run around like a man possessed? Yes, I do, because I see that every day.”
