Bears DJ Moore makes Keenan Allen an “old man” joke after injury scare

The Chicago Bears won Caleb Williams' first start despite a poor offensive performance, defeating the Titans 24-17. New wide receiver Keenan Allen left the game limping, causing concern among Bears fans. Thankfully, there is no cause for concern about a long-term injury, at least according to fellow wide receiver DJ Moore.

“Yeah, he's just an old man… He's good,” Moore told Bears reporters on social media, according to 670 The Score.

Moore and Allen will be top targets for first-round pick Caleb Williams. They were the only players to catch more than one pass on Sunday, combining for seven passes for 65 yards. The defense and special teams supported the offense, scoring both touchdowns in the win. Bears fans will be relieved that Allen appears to be healthy for next week's game.

The Titans lost this game much harder than the Bears won. The Bears next face the Texans, who probably won't get it done. CJ Stroud shined in their Week 1 win, and their home opener on Sunday night should feature a wild atmosphere. The Bears will need big performances from Williams, Allen and Moore to beat the Texans.

Even though the Bears won the game, there is still reason to worry that they will not end their playoff drought. What does Caleb Williams need to do to establish himself as a future starter in Chicago?

NFL fans don't have much patience for rookie quarterbacks. Given current quarterback salaries, it's difficult to have sustained success with a veteran quarterback. The Bears have surrounded Williams with great talent and should now open a competitive window. Their offensive performance on Sunday didn't suggest that would happen.

Williams threw for 93 yards on 29 attempts in Week 1. Even though he missed Allen for parts of the game, it was still a very poor performance. The reason the Bears can have hope for this season is because the defense seems to be a difference-maker group. They scored two touchdowns and got a punt block score to pull away from the Titans.

Williams admitted after the game that he wasn't good enough and acknowledged the rising expectations for the team. The Bears traded up the 2023 first-round pick and received the 2024 first-round pick because of Bryce Young's struggles with the Carolina Panthers. While they got lucky with Williams, the Bears still put a lot of pressure on the young quarterback.

The Chicago Bears may have won their first game, but there were some concerns. Keenan Allen seems to have been injury-free, but he will need to play at a high level for the Bears to beat the Texans.
