Channel 4 Hollyoaks confirms sad deaths and major betrayal in first look at time jump

Hollyoaks will jump a year into the future to see what the residents have been up to, and Tony Hutchinson will pick up flowers to place on a grave after a shocking death

It's been a year since the tragic motorbike crash and the revenge of the criminal Blue changed the lives of the residents of Hollyoaks village forever. Next week, the Channel 4 soap will jump forward 12 months to reveal what the villagers have been up to over the past year, as landowner Tony Hutchinson (played by Nick Pickard) takes a closer look at his estate.

Inside, he pauses to look at family photos as some of the Hutchinson clan prepare to leave for school. Did all of his loved ones survive the motorcycle accident that devastated the McQueens' home? Over at Casa McQueen, preparations are underway for a party as the family scrambles to get the house ready. The village is busy with everyday life, but for some, this day is a difficult and painful memory.

Tony accepts flowers from Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) to place on a grave, and he is not the only one paying his respects, reports the Mirror. The Osbornes and Lomaxes also gather at the graveside in celebration. But despite the anniversary, life goes on and an engaged couple's romance blossoms.

The day is a tough one for Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe), a single mother struggling with the events of the past year. But she perseveres, runs a business and looks after her one-year-old twins.

At the hospital, Tony seems stressed as doctors tend to a patient. There is no news yet. Despite the circumstances, he manages to be brave and proposes a toast at Casa McQueen. It has been a challenging year, but he believes they have weathered the storm.

His positive attitude seems contagious when another couple decides it's time to take their relationship further. Good news is on the horizon for another resident who goes into labor, sending the Lomaxes racing like mad to the hospital.

However, tensions rise when a secret relationship is discovered. Vicky Grant (Anya Lawrence) falls out of favor with Sienna. Has Vicky picked a fight with the wrong person, namely Blake icon?

The Lomaxes meet at the hospital and it is a celebratory moment because the birth of a new life brings hope.

Hollyoaks airs Monday to Wednesday at 7pm on E4 and first episodes can be streamed from 7am on Channel 4.
