NY Lottery: NYC winner takes home $2 million of doubled Mega Millions prize in lump sum

A New York State Lottery player has won a double prize of $2 million in the Mega Millions drawing.

Rafaela Blumenberg of the Bronx has won a $2 million Megaplier prize by matching the first five Mega Millions numbers drawn on March 26, 2024, according to the New York Lottery.

When making the purchase, Blumenberg decided to pay an extra dollar for the Megaplier feature, which allows players to multiply any win (excluding the jackpot) up to five times.

When she won second prize, her original winnings of $1 million were doubled to $2 million because the Megaplier was 2 that day.

The winning numbers for this evening were: 7, 11, 22, 29, 38 and Mega Ball 4.

The ticket was purchased at Smokes 4 Less at 59 North Plank Road in Newburgh. The line outside this cigar shop is consistently stretched all the way to the store, as this hotspot for winning tickets has undoubtedly added to the excitement and anticipation.

Blumenberg received a one-time lump sum payment totaling $1,302,001 after required withholdings.

Her ticket was one of three winning tickets in New York State in the March 26 drawing. Additional tickets were sold in Cicero and Locust Valley.

The winning numbers for the Mega Millions game are drawn from a field of 1 to 70. The Mega Ball number is drawn from a separate field of 1 to 25. To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the gold Mega Ball number.

Mega Millions tickets can be purchased at any New York Lottery retailer for $2, seven days a week. The deadline to purchase a ticket is 10 p.m. on drawing nights.

The draws take place every Tuesday and Friday.
