Frankie BeverlyFrontman of the R&B soul and funk band Maze with Frankie Beverly has died.

The news of his death was confirmed by his family in a post on his official social media accounts, which stated:Grieving the loss of a loved one is a deeply personal and emotional experience. During this time as we grapple with feelings of grief, reflection, and remembrance, we politely ask for privacy and understanding so that we have the space to grieve in our own ways. This time is a time of healing, and your respect for our need for solitude is appreciated as we honor the memory of our beloved Howard Stanley Beverly, known to the world as Frankie Beverly.

He lived his life with pure soul, as you would say, and for us, no one did it better. He lived for his music, his family and his friends.

Love one another as he would want us all to love you.

The group moved to California, renamed themselves Raw Soul, and soon caught the attention of Motown legend Marvin Gaye. Not only did Gaye make them the opening act for his tours, but he also convinced them to adopt the name Maze, laying the foundation for their lasting legacy in the music industry.

Maze featuring Frankie Beverly formed in the 1970s and became known for his smooth, soulful sound, producing timeless hits such as “Before I Let Go,” “Joy and Pain,” and “Happy Feelin's.” Beverly's distinctive voice and charismatic stage presence endeared him to fans and made him a popular figure in the R&B and soul scene.

Audiences flocked to see Maze, who often wore Beverly's signature all-white outfit, creating a uniting and lively atmosphere at the concerts.

In 2024, Beverly announced his retirement with the “I Wanna Thank You Farewell Tour,” which culminated in a final, emotional performance on May 12 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Beverly's music has left an indelible impression on his fans, evoking memories of joy, pain and celebration. His farewell tour was a heartfelt tribute filled with nostalgia and gratitude, and marked the end of an era for many loyal followers.
