Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil is accused of forcing the Chief of Staff to perform sexual acts, which led to his injury

A California state senator is alleged to have forced her chief of staff into a “quid pro quo sexual relationship” that caused him various physical injuries, according to a lawsuit filed last week.

Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil, who recently switched from the Democratic to the Republican Party, is accused of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation and violations of other state labor laws against her former chief of staff, Chad Condit. On Thursday, Condit filed a civil lawsuit in Sacramento Superior Court.

Condit, who is married, claimed that Alvarado-Gil was an “unpredictable” and “controlling” boss who committed a “sexually dominant abuse of authority and power” against him.

“This was a sex-based quid pro quo relationship involving unwanted advances and sexual conduct, coupled with punishment and displays of power,” the lawsuit states.

During their last encounter, according to the indictment, Alvarado-Gil forced him to perform oral sex in a car seat, causing him to suffer three herniated discs in his back and a broken hip because he had to “twist and contort” his body in the confined space of the car.

Condit claims he then used his injury as an excuse to refuse Alvarado-Gil's demands for oral sex, which made Alvarado-Gil unhappy and threatened his job. Alvarado-Gil allegedly retaliated by sending him a disciplinary letter accusing him of inappropriate behavior.

In December, Condit was fired after making it clear that the senator's advances were unwelcome and underwent hip surgery, the lawsuit says.

Alvarado-Gil's attorney, Ognian Gavrilov, told Fox News Digital in a statement that the allegations against the senator are false.

“A disgruntled former employee fabricated a ludicrous story without evidence in order to get money,” Gavrilov said. “We expect the senator to be acquitted of all charges related to these false, financially motivated claims.”

The California State Senate is also named in the lawsuit.

“The Senate has not yet been served on this matter, but we are in discussions with counsel to discuss next steps,” Senate Secretary Erika Contreras said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “The Senate takes all complaints incredibly seriously, but cannot comment on matters involving pending litigation.”

Jacqui Nguyen, press secretary for the Republican caucus in the California Senate, told Fox News Digital in a statement that the senator was fully cooperating.

“Senator Alvarado-Gil is cooperating fully,” Nguyen said. “This is a lawsuit against a former employee, so we must complete the legal process and refer any investigation to the Senate Committee on Rules.”
