Katharina Feistauer from Pluto TV supports Mubi in global programming offensive

EXCLUSIVE: TV veteran Katharina Feistauer has joined the film service Mubi.

She has taken on the role of vice president of global programming at the film distributor, producer and streamer after recently leaving Paramount Global's PlutoTV. Feistauer will report to Jason Ropell, Mubi's chief content officer.

Based in Mubi's London office, she will lead Mubi's programming team across all markets, drive the streaming service's overall strategy and manage the pipeline of indie and filmmaker content.

The hire comes just months after Ropell told delegates in Karlovy Vary that Mubi plans to “scale up” its business to meet growing demand for independent and arthouse titles. “We need to have global theatrical distribution capabilities in addition to the global streaming capabilities that we have,” he said at the time. “Over time, you'll see us moving in that direction. I firmly believe that the overall global audience for our type of film is actually quite large and there's a lot of room for growth.”

Feistauer will drive this strategy forward. She began her career in content at Discovery in the early 2000s. She rose to head of German channels and then senior program planner before moving to Scripps Networks Interactive, where she served as VP Programming for the UK and EMEA. She then moved to Nickelodeon in a similar role and became Senior Director of Content Strategy and Programming for the UK at PlutoTV in 2021. She is considered an expert in content curation, acquisition and licensing, and content strategy, and also works in content operations, marketing, and research.
