“Smile 2” – Open your mouth wide and watch the official trailer for Paramount’s horror sequel

Presented by Paramount Scares, Bloody Disgusting goes to Camp Crystal Lake during the week of Friday the 13th to screen a series of films celebrating the Voorhees family and their influence. Yesterday, Rachel Reeves highlighted other horror films set around the camp. Today, Luiz HC takes stock of all the horror film fans like the franchise hero Tommy Jarvis.

Writers may invent nightmares and directors may bring them to life, but everyone knows that it is the horror fans who Really keep the genre alive. That's why it's always refreshing to see horror movies show some appreciation for the community, like when Jason Voorhees was defeated (quite brutally) by a young monster movie enthusiast played by Corey Feldman, aka Tommy Jarvis.

In light of the 40th anniversary for Jarvis and FRIDAY THE 13TH – The final chapterwe have compiled a list of six other hardcore horror fans in horror movies. What horror fan hasn't dreamed of using their genre know-how to take down vampires, murderers, and zombies? As always, don't forget to leave a comment below with your own favorite horror movie nerds if you think we've missed one.

And if you crave more Friday the 13th Contents, Greatest horror And Damn disgusting present a marathon with eight films on the Friday the 13th Franchise. Not in the area? Can't make it? Paramount Scares and Fangoria also present nationwide screenings of FRIDAY THE 13TH – The final chapter.

6. Mark Petrie (Lance Kerwin/ Dan Byrd/Jordan Preston Carter) – Salem's Lot

The first of several young vampire experts on this list, horror fan Mark Petrie was one of the first residents to notice that there was something fishy (or was it something with fangs?) going on with the population of Jerusalem's Lot. In fact, it's his obsession with classic monster movies that ultimately leads our survivors to safety, with Mark being a font of undead knowledge for our older protagonists.

He may be the youngest survivor of the group, but Mark is still ready to face the vampire threat head-on, which is why I think he qualifies as a hardcore horror fan. And while we're on the subject Salem's LotI really hope the upcoming remake does the character justice, as I would love to see Mark's interests updated to include more modern creature features.

5. Terry Chandler (Louis Tripp) – The gate and The Gate 2

Most parents worry about their children talking to strangers or setting fire to the living room carpet when they're home alone, but even the most paranoid parent can hardly imagine the chaos that Glen and his friends get into when they stumble upon a mysterious geode in their backyard.

Most horror fans agree, however, that occult-obsessed Terry Chandler is the most entertaining of this ragtag group of troublemakers. His knowledge of demonology, genre lore, and heavy metal proves incredibly valuable when it comes to getting rid of the supernatural invaders—even if he is partially responsible for the chaos.

4. The Monster Troop – The Monster Troop

The '80s saw no shortage of quirky groups of pre-pubescent friends having crazy adventures, but only one of these gangs had the honor of facing the Universal Monsters. Originally a fan club dedicated to the iconic creatures, Monster Squad was finally forced to gather against the things that rumble at night.

And while The Monster Squad wasn't the box office hit it deserved, there's no denying that the film's portrayal of young horror fans would influence countless other characters in genre media. Aside from that, not even the Stranger Things The gang has managed to win Frankenstein's creature over to their cause, which is why the group continues to be in a class of its own.

3. Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale/Anton Yelchin) – Spooky night franchise

We've all heard of people who have become slightly paranoid due to their obsession with fear-mongering media, but every now and then it turns out that their fear was well-founded. A typical example: Spooky nightCharley Brewster, the teenage vampire hunter. Well-versed in the knowledge of the undead due to his love of horror movies, this clever high school student was quick to spot any signs of vampiric activity in his neighbor's house.

Whether it's William Ragsdale or the late, great Anton Yelchin, both versions of the character have proven themselves to be badass warriors of light when things get personal, which is why I think we can all agree with Evil Ed when he says, “You're so cool, Brewster!”

2. The Frog Brothers (Corey Feldman/Jamison Newlander) – The Lost Boys franchise

Traumatic events can cause children to grow up a little too quickly, and there's no better example of this than the monster-hunting Frog Brothers. Inspired by practically accurate horror comics, Edgar and Alan Frog soon turned their nerdy hobby into a matter of life and death when they discovered that their idyllic Californian town was secretly being overrun by Nosferatu.

The frogs may not be the primarily Characters of The Lost BoysI think we can all agree that their improvised weapons and overly adult behavior make their scenes some of the most entertaining (and memorable) parts of an already entertaining movie. And if you're also a fan of those coastal vampire hunters, I'd recommend checking out the cheap but oddly entertaining sequels to find out what the brothers have been up to in the years since the original film.

1. Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy) – Scream franchise

Jasmin Savoy Brown's portrayal of film buff Mindy Meeks-Martin is perhaps one of the best parts of the new Scream movies, but if this franchise has taught us anything, it's that you can't go wrong with the original. So it's no surprise that the top spot has to go to our favorite Ghostface survivor, Randy Meeks.

Randy is a movie bro with a heart of gold and the definition of a nerd who finds himself in a situation where his niche interest can finally be of practical use. And while Randy is appropriately gentle While his demeanor may stretch the definition of “badass,” the guy continued to help his friends take down movie-obsessed serial killers even after he was tragically killed in the sequel, so I think he deserves his place on this list.
