Tom Hardy says goodbye to the Spider-Man villain

Sony Pictures has released the second trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance”.

Tom Hardy returns for the final film in the trilogy as Eddie Brock, better known as the symbiote Venom from the Spider-Man comics. According to the official logline, “Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both their worlds and with the web closing in, the duo are forced to make a devastating decision that will bring down the curtain on Venom and Eddie's final dance.”

In addition to Hardy, the cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham.

Kelly Marcel, who wrote and produced the first two Venom films, directed The Last Dance from a screenplay she wrote. Marcel and Hardy developed the story of Venom 3 and produced alongside Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal and Hutch Parker. Joe Caracciolo Jr. is the executive producer.

Hardy's previous two comic book blockbusters, “Venom” (2018) and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” (2021), both hit theaters in early October. The first “Venom” film, directed by Ruben Fleischer, grossed $856 million at the worldwide box office, while the Andy Serkis-directed “Let There Be Carnage” grossed $502 million worldwide amid the pandemic.

In the post-credits scene of Let There Be Carnage, Hardy's Eddie/Venom was teleported into the MCU and saw Tom Holland's Peter Parker on a news broadcast. Eddie/Venom then appeared in the post-credits scene of 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home; they are returned to their universe – but not before leaving a piece of the symbiote behind.

“Venom: The Last Dance” hits theaters on October 25th.
