Malik Nabers restricted due to knee injury

New York Giants rookie receiver Malik Nabers has been placed on the team's injured list due to a knee issue. Nabers was listed as a limited participant in practice.

It's unclear when Nabers' problem occurred, but since he wasn't mentioned in Wednesday's report, it's believed something may have happened on Thursday.

Head coach Brian Daboll did not hold an official press conference on Thursday, but spoke briefly with reporters on the way to practice. And there was no mention of Nabers having any issues.

Speaking of Giants receiver Darius Slayton, who is in concussion protocol, is developing in the right direction, head coach Brian Daboll said Thursday.

Slayton has reached the final stages of the protocol, which consists of engaging in non-contact activities. While he's not quite out of the woods yet, Slayton is trending in the right direction for Sunday, though it's also likely that second-year player Jalin Hyatt will take more game reps on Sunday so as not to put too much strain on Slayton following his injury.

Linebacker Darius Muasau (knee) and cornerback Nick McCloud (knee) worked on the sidelines during the media-accessible portion of practice. Punt returner Gunner Olszewski (groin) was not spotted on the field and will likely be placed on the injured list.

In other injury news: Outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen suffered a broken leg in Sunday's loss to the Vikings when he was hit by Minnesota running back Ty Chandler on the sideline in the fourth quarter. Bullen underwent surgery Thursday to repair his leg, and defensive assistant Ben Burress appeared to be taking over some of Bullen's duties at the start of practice Thursday.

Forbes is operated on on Friday to repair a torn ACL in his thumb suffered in last week's regular-season opener against Tampa Bay. That obviously would make him unavailable for Sunday's game against the Giants.
