Country music star Megan Moroney shocks audience with rude gesture mid-show after 'disgusting' behavior by fan

Country singer Megan Moroney was not impressed after a fan threw a hat at her while she was on stage during her show in Birmingham, England.

In a video posted online, the 26-year-old can be seen performing at the O2 Institute on Tuesday, singing her quiet, melancholic ballad “28th of June” while her hat flies across the stage and brushes against her thigh.

Megan's expression instantly changed from calm to surprised to irritated, and she shook her head slightly in disbelief before glaring angrily in the fan's direction.

The rude gesture seemed to throw her off, as she could be seen pursing her lips and tapping her fingers on the microphone handle, appearing frustrated for the rest of the number.

On the second song, Hope You're Happy, she subtly flipped the fan the bird by crooning the lyrics, “I hope your ships never start to sink.”

She later clarified that the offending fan was kicked off the show at that point because he continued to be “obnoxious.”

The interaction was captured in two parts by a fan and later shared on TikTok under the handle @Big1Country.

In one of the posts, Megan, who is currently touring with her new album “Am I Okay,” spoke up in the comments section and provided important background information on the interaction.

“Weird way to title this video without giving any context,” she explained.

“A guy threw a hat at me and I got scared shitless.”

“I gave a [middle finger] when he was kicked out and continued to be obnoxious.'

Commenters under both posts rushed to the singer’s aid.

“This is very disrespectful! This happens at every concert now! Grow up guys! They're here to sing, not to be hit by you throwing things at them,” wrote one.

TikTok users quickly defended Megan in the two posts documenting the incident

“Please, please, please don't throw anything! This is disturbing, inappropriate and immature. Grow up people,” echoed a second.

“Please don't throw things at entertainers! Please treat artists and entertainers with love and respect,” agreed a third.

“She's the boss. Don't forget that. Her show,” explained a fourth.

“Go away, queen,” a fifth of her voice cheered with the middle finger, responding to the rude fan.

Megan is currently touring Europe and has just announced her “Am I Okay” tour, which will begin in March 2025.

In July, the artist made public the rumors that she was dating fellow country musician Morgan Wallace.

The singer confirmed in Wednesday's episode of the podcast “Call Your Daddy” that she was dating the 31-year-old “Voice” alumnus, but “never exclusively.”

“I tried so hard to avoid this [question] in every single interview I've ever given,” she said.
