LeBron James of the Lakers could be the greatest of all time

What Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James continues to achieve at his age is unprecedented, as he remains one of the best players in the NBA even in his 22nd season.

James could have left the Lakers during the offseason if he wanted to pursue another championship, but instead he chose to extend his contract and likely finish his career in LA alongside his son, Bronny James.

One of the reasons LeBron feels comfortable in LA is his relationship with owner Jeanie Buss, which is reportedly better than ever.

And Buss is certainly grateful to James, praising the work he does for the organization both on and off the court, via Chuck Schilken of the LA Times:

“He delivers consistently. He works hard. He's not only a global brand, he's our leader. He's the captain of our team and he sets the tone, sets the pace by working hard. Nobody can complain about the work when you see someone with his resume and his long career, nobody can complain about having to train when they're ready. And he does. He just amazes me. I don't know what else to say.

“As far as my expectations for the team, I can sit here and tell you – the Lakers, as we know, are always playing for the championship, between Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson and Phil Jackson and Pat Riley and Dr. Buss. That's who we are. But that's just my opinion. What I really want is for the games to start so we can see what these guys are going to do. I'll let them tell the story because they're the ones who are really going to show us what they're capable of.”

Buss gave James further compliments, especially regarding his performance at the Olympics this summer:

“It's definitely going to be an interesting season. I mean, LeBron, the way he played in the Olympics? He could be the greatest of all time.”

Although Buss still believes in James' ability on the court, he probably needs more support around him to be able to compete for the championship.

LeBron has always been one to push management for changes, so it will be interesting to see if that is the case again this year with the Lakers off to a slow start.

Jeanie Buss: LeBron James' maximum salary is a bargain for the Lakers

LeBron James signed a new contract with the Lakers for nearly maximum value this offseason, but despite his age, Jeanie Buss explained why she thinks it's a bargain for the company.

“That was something that was important to LeBron, and yes, he's our highest-paid player, but to me he's still a bargain. He's absolutely amazing. Because we're a salary cap league, we can only pay him a certain amount. He gives us exposure in the league, but also internationally. He's a huge star and a great leader for this team. What he does for our young players, what he does for the community. We're proud to work with him. It's the same as Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant, because we're in a salary cap league, they probably should have gotten double what they're getting. But we can only pay him the maximum.”
