Rochester NY Weekend Forecast

Forecasts point to two similar picture-perfect days on Sept. 14 and 15. Saturday's high will be 27 degrees, with sunny skies and calm winds through the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo and AccuWeather. In the evening, lows will climb to 16 degrees and winds will calm down.

A nearly identical forecast is expected for Sunday, with highs of 28 degrees Celsius and sunny weather, the same low temperature and similar wind patterns.

The only potential difficulty is the air quality forecast for both days. The air quality index was 51 on September 14 and 55 on September 15, which is considered moderate. Smoke from wildfires in the western United States and Canada entered the area on Friday, bringing medium-density smoke to counties bordering Lake Ontario.

Rochester Fringe Festival this weekend

The Rochester Fringe Festival reaches all parts of the city, including parks and other outdoor spaces, at any time of day. Some notable venues and a special event for each include:

  • The Genesee Waterways Center is the starting point for Saturday's ROC River Ride, a ride of up to 10 miles in groups of up to 25 participants, with stops for cultural performances by local artists and performers. Rides begin at 10 a.m. every 15 minutes and last up to 2 hours.

  • On the lawn next to the Rochester Contemporary Art Center, experience “Silent Reflections: A Journey Through Events that Shaped Our City,” a free, 45-minute interactive staging of Rochester's most important events. Catch the performance Saturday at 6 p.m.

  • Open every evening, the Spiegelgarten features lounge furniture, fire pits, open-air cinema and the Theaterbar right outside the festival's famous Spiegelzelt. This weekend, the Spiegelgarten is open for performances and extended opening hours – Saturday from 11am to 11pm and Sunday from 12pm to 10pm.

  • The Third Presbyterian Church at the intersection of East Avenue and Meigs Street will host “Monuments,” a project by artist Craig Walsh, who projects the faces of local, unsung heroes onto trees to create one. The exhibit will be on view nightly from 8-10 p.m. through September 23.
