Aldi hires 13,000 new employees and increases the minimum wage

ALDI already employs more than 49,000 people across the United States and is hiring 13,000 new employees ahead of the busy holiday season and the opening of more stores across the country.

Aldi announced that the company plans to hire thousands of new employees and increase the minimum wage to $18 or $23 per hour.

The company announced in a press release last week that it will hire 13,000 new store and warehouse employees as the company continues to open more stores across the U.S.

The discount grocery store chain already employs more than 49,000 people and hopes to exceed the 60,000-employee mark with the new wave of hiring.

“We welcome applicants during National Hiring Week with competitive starting salaries, industry-leading benefits and opportunities to build a long-term career,” Aldi representatives said in the press release.

The national average starting wage for Aldi employees is set at $18 per hour and for warehouse workers at $23 per hour. Both wages are market and position dependent.

Aldi offers some employees new health benefits

In addition to these wage increases, Aldi also offers its employees various health benefits. According to the press release, employees who work more than 30 hours per week are entitled to health insurance, paid vacation and other perks.

“In 2023, the retailer also introduced new benefits in response to employee feedback, including flexible working hours and 100% paid parental and carer leave,” the press release continued.
