Manchester City vs Brentford: Premier League – BBC Sport

  • Manchester City have won four of their six Premier League games against Brentford (L2), completing a double victory in both the 2021/22 and 2023/24 seasons.

  • Brentford remain the last team to win away at Manchester City in any competition, winning 2-1 in November 2022. Since then, the Citizens have been unbeaten 45 times in all competitions at the Etihad (38 wins, 7 draws).

  • Manchester City have won all three of their Premier League games this season. They have already won each of their first four games of the season in the English top flight eight times (1903-04, 1912-13, 1961-62, 2009-10, 2011-12, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2023-24), which is already more than any other club.

  • Since the start of last season, Brentford have lost more away Premier League games (13) than any other team currently in the competition. The Bees have also lost each of their last five away games against teams that finished in the top four of the Premier League the previous season.

  • Manchester City have won each of their last 12 Premier League games, all by a margin of 2+ goals. In fact, under Pep Guardiola alone, the Citizens are responsible for six of the 16 consecutive winning streaks of 12+ wins by any club in the history of the English top flight (38%).

  • Brentford have won two of their three Premier League games this season (L1), which is their best start to a season in the competition. They have only won three of their first four games in the top flight in 1946/47 – but that was the only season they were relegated from the league.

  • Brentford are allowing an average of 16.7 passes per defensive action (PPDA) in the current Premier League season, the highest of any team and the highest for the Bees in all four Premier League seasons to date.

  • Erling Haaland has scored seven goals in the Premier League this season, the most ever scored by a player in the first three games of a season in the competition. The record for a goal scored in the first four games of a Premier League season is eight, scored by Wayne Rooney for Manchester United in 2011/12.

  • Both Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa have scored in two of Brentford's three Premier League games this season. In total, the pair have scored 13 times in a Premier League game, at least 10 more times than any other duo for the Bees.

  • Manchester City's Jérémy Doku has carried the ball 747.8m in the Premier League this season, almost 300m more than any other player (Jan Paul van Hecke is second with 457.3m). His 64 passes are also a league high, as are his 17 passes that ended in a tackle.
