Yankees' Gerrit Cole admits this about Rafael Devers of the Red Sox

Rafael Devers is a superstar for the Boston Red Sox and performs at his best against some of the best pitchers in the big leagues.

Nobody knows this better than New York Yankees starter Gerrit Cole.

Devers has a career batting average of .333 (13-for-39) with eight home runs and 18 RBIs and 38 total bases against the Yankees star. The Red Sox hitter hit throws outside the zone and stunned Cole time and time again, including in their last meeting at Yankee Stadium in July.

During a press conference on Hispanic Heritage Day, Cole was asked which Latino hitter did the most damage. His answer?

“Rafael Devers,” Cole told reporters, according to SNY.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Devers is batting .281 with 28 home runs and a .900 OPS for the Red Sox in the 2024 season. The Stars will get their next chance to face each other on Saturday at Yankee Stadium, when the 2023 Cy Young winner takes the ball for New York.
