CBS Sports Network's ongoing coverage of the 2024 college football season includes three Week 3 games. The action begins Saturday afternoon when UMass travels to Buffalo to compete for the first time since 2022 and only the 15th time in program history.

In its final game in Buffalo, UMass actually came out on top, capping its final season as a Mid-American Conference team with a 31-26 win over the Bulls on November 27, 2015.

Then No. 12 Utah and Utah State will take center stage in the first of two non-conference games. The Utes and Aggies haven't competed for the Beehive Boot since Sept. 11, 2015. That game ended with Utah's 79th win over one of its biggest in-state rivals.

To close out the evening, an up-and-coming BYU team travels to Wyoming for one final test before Big 12 play begins. The Cougars and Cowboys used to play each other annually when they shared the Western Athletic Conference and were common opponents in the Mountain West, but this will be their first meeting since 2022 and only their third since 2010.

The Battle of the Brothers is back after a nearly 10-year hiatus. It's been even longer since these two teams met in Logan, when Utah State pulled out a thrilling 27-20 overtime victory on Sept. 7, 2012. That was the Aggies' only win over their old rival this century; Utah has a 12-1 advantage in games since 2000. Utah, which was ranked No. 1 in the Big 12 preseason media poll, is a heavy favorite to extend that lead.

This underrated non-conference game pits two teams with different prospects for success against each other. BYU has exceeded expectations so far and just pulled off an impressive win over SMU, a team many considered an underdog in its first year in the ACC. Wyoming, on the other hand, opened its 2024 season with a 48-7 loss to Arizona State and then lost 17-13 to FCS Idaho – a team that gave Oregon some trouble in Week 1. The Cowboys, however, are always a threat and have beaten many Power Four teams in the recent past.
