Weather-related game delay for Florida Gators and Texas A&M Aggies

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After trailing 10-0 against the Texas A&M Aggies at the end of the first quarter, the Florida Gators will have to wait and see before attempting a comeback.

Reported lightning strikes within a 13-kilometer radius sent both teams to the locker room for at least 30 minutes. If there is another lightning strike within those 30 minutes, the clock is reset.

At the time of the stoppage, Florida trailed Texas A&M 10-0 at the end of the first quarter. Several tackling problems, critical penalties and breakdowns in coverage allowed the Aggies to take an early lead.

On the first drive of the game, Texas A&M converted three third downs, but one of them was canceled due to a penalty, resulting in a field goal.

A defensive holding penalty on Jason Marshall Jr. during Texas A&M's failed attempt at a fourth down led to a 29-yard touchdown pass from Marcell Reed, starting in place of the injured Conner Weigman, to Melin Ohrstrom on the next drive.

Additionally, Florida replaced quarterback Graham Mertz with rookie DJ Lagway after a drive. The game was stopped after Lagway's first snap, a handoff to Montrell Johnson Jr. It should be noted that Florida will also be without star receiver Eugene Wilson III, who is out with a lower-body injury after leaving the game after the game had started.
