The Trinbago Knight Riders will play against the Barbados Royals in the 15th match of the 2024 CPL at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. The Knights will be tasked with scoring 157 runs after Kieron Pollard put the Royals in bat.

The Knight Riders started the game in style with two wickets in the first over. Quinton de Kock then tried to steady the Royals innings but didn't last long. His 39 off 21 was an inning that gave the Royals momentum but they would have been happier with his bigger contribution.

Powell led the Royals to a fighting overall result

After de Kock's departure, the Royals struggled to gain momentum in their innings, losing wickets at regular intervals and struggling to post a competitive total. However, team captain Rovman Powell decided to show some resilience and fight on behalf of the team.

Powell scored 59 runs from 38 deliveries to guide the team to a fighting total of 156/7 at the end of 20 overs. In response, the Knight Riders lost Sunil Narine with the first ball. Jason Roy soon followed suit. Maheesh Theekshana took those two wickets and looked dangerous in the midst of a lethal spell.

Pooran does the repair work for Knights

The fall of Roy brought Nicholas Pooran into the middle. Pooran is known for his aggressive batting style and bold attitude at every stage of a game. He displayed the same attitude when he faced Maheesh Theekshana in the third over of the innings.

On the fourth delivery, Pooran hit a boundary. It was a full draw to the off stump which was hit away over the covers by the left-hander. The next ball was again a full draw but this time Theekshana bowled more slowly. Pooran noticed the length and the change of pace early and went down on one knee to hit the ball over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum.

Immediately after the maximum, rain halted the action for 10-15 minutes. But Pooran's confidence from these two shots could help him land a match-winning shot in this match.
