Harry Brook to captain England as Jos Buttler misses ODI series against Australia | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: England's Whites captain Jos Buttler will be unavailable for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia due to a lingering calf injury.
This announcement by the Government of England and Wales cricket Board (ECB) on Sunday, casts a shadow over England's preparations for the series.
The 34-year-old Buttler is struggling with calf problems, which is why he had to miss the entire current Twenty20 series against Australia.
The T20 series is currently tied 1-1. The final match is scheduled for Sunday, which puts further pressure on the English team.
One important change is that batsman Harry Brook has been given the captaincy in Buttler's absence. This is a significant step forward for the 24-year-old.
Adding to England’s problems is the fact that the young fast bowler Josh Hull has been ruled out of the ODI series due to a quadriceps injury. The 20-year-old's absence further weakens England's bowling attack and poses a challenge for team management.
In response to these setbacks, the ECB has included experienced all-rounder Liam Livingstone in the ODI squad. Livingstone's inclusion provides valuable batting depth and a useful spin option, strengthening England's resources.
England’s ODI squad against Australia:
Harry Brook (captain), Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, Jordan Cox, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone, Matthew Potts, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Jamie Smith, Olly Stone, Reece Topley and John Turner.
